14 June 2022 World Blood Donor Day Today is a memorial to Dr. Karl Landsteiner, Austrian doctor who discovered the ABO blood group for the first time. This year, the slogan on World Blood Donor Day is “Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives – Unity is the power for human life with blood donation” to raise awareness of the need for blood donation and campaigning for blood donors to participate in saving lives. It is also a reserve of blood sufficient to pay for various hospitals during the COVID-19 outbreak.
